Summary

In August 1949, an Air Force officer in Denver, Colorado, reported seeing an unidentified object shaped like a flying wing. The object, observed for about 20 seconds, was moving in a straight line at an altitude of approximately 40,000 feet and an estimated speed of 1700 mph. It was described as aluminum-colored with heat waves emanating from its trailing edge, giving it an oval appearance. The witness, an experienced officer, estimated its size to be similar to a B-26 bomber. Despite the sighting, there was no radar activity or weather balloon records in the area at that time.
