🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1949, two electrical engineers in Houston observed a very bright fireball in the sky. The object appeared in the northeast, with a color similar to an arc welder, and moved toward the southwest at an estimated altitude of 5000 feet. The observers, working in a five-story building, saw the object for a few seconds and it left no trail. They could not see the object's body, only the intense flame.
The fireball produced no sound or odor, and no wings, antennas or other components were visible. The engineers, considered intelligent and competent, were not wearing glasses or viewing through transparent materials. The report concluded the object was a meteorite, though other unidentified phenomena were not ruled out. The case was investigated by military authorities and classified as unidentified.
