🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1949, an unidentified flying object was observed over Santa Rosa Island, Florida. A witness captured two photographs of the object, which appeared clearly defined with sharp edges and a metallic look. Although the photos are not of high quality by today’s standards, their clarity and the witness's account suggest the object was not natural or a conventional aircraft. This case is included in the Project 598 files, a program that collected reports of unidentified sightings.
The location of the sighting, Santa Rosa Island, is a coastal area with open views of the Gulf of Mexico, ideal for aerial observation. The photographer described a feeling of surprise and confusion when seeing the object. Later researchers have noted that the case has no clear explanation and remains one of the most intriguing UFO files from the 1940s. These old records are still relevant for understanding how unexplained aerial phenomena were addressed in the 1940s.
