🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
On January 7, 1950, a farmer in Gashland, Missouri, reported seeing an unidentified flying object emitting a brilliant white light. The witness described the object moving northwest at an estimated altitude of 3000 to 4000 feet, without making noise or leaving an exhaust trail. Although its size and maneuverability could not be determined, the sighting was logged by air authorities. A complete report was pending the receipt of correspondence from the witness at the time of the initial filing.
The classified document did not include photographs or sketches of the object. The observer could not estimate the speed of the UFO, adding to the mystery of the case. Despite the lack of detailed data, the description of the color and direction of movement was enough to include the incident in official records. This type of report was common at the time, when UFO sightings generated significant interest and concern among air forces.
