Summary

A woman in Jackson, Mississippi, reported in February 1950 the sighting of two flying objects described as "flying saucers." According to the testimony, the objects appeared around 3:00 p.m., traveled westward, maintained a constant distance between them, and emitted a steady noise unlike that of conventional aircraft. The witness described the objects as round, about the size of a bird bath, and leaving a vapor trail similar to that of sky-writing planes, though lighter in color. An officer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base reviewed the case and concluded that the objects were not weather balloons or conventional aircraft.

The testimony was corroborated by a Black gardener working in the area, who confirmed having seen similar objects the previous summer. Despite investigations, no conventional explanation was found for the phenomenon. The report, originally classified by the Air Force, was downgraded over time and finally declassified in 1960. This case is another example of the numerous UFO sightings in the 1950s, a period marked by great interest and mystery surrounding unidentified flying objects.
