🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1950, a U.S. Air Force pilot at Selfridge AFB, Michigan, observed an unidentified flying object descending vertically over the base. The object, described as a bright yellowish light, moved erratically, first westward, then southward, and finally returned northward. The pilot compared it to the light from a house window at 30 yards, emphasizing its intensity and visual stability despite directional changes. The incident was documented and sent to Washington for analysis.
A radar controller also recorded the same object on the radar screen, noting that it remained stationary for two minutes before moving at speeds exceeding those of any known aircraft. Technical experts concluded it was not an atmospheric phenomenon or a radar error, and the object's movement characteristics could not be explained by existing technology. This case was part of a series of reports that led to increased attention on UFO sightings at military installations.
