🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1950, a U.S. Air Force officer reported an unidentified flying object during a commercial flight. The captain, serving as co-pilot on a Chicago and Southern Airlines flight, observed a circular object moving at an astonishing speed. The plane was flying at low altitude over Arkansas, and the object passed within half a mile, about 1000 feet above the aircraft. The object had a diameter of approximately 100 feet and displayed a bright light on top that blinked rapidly.
The observer described surprising details: the bottom of the object had between 9 and 12 oval or circular portholes, from which a soft purple light emanated. The object showed no visible signs of wings or engines and moved in a straight line. The pilot estimated it was traveling at least 1000 miles per hour, an unusual speed for any known aircraft at that time. The report includes a drawing by the officer, depicting his description of the object, adding credibility to his account.
