🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1950, a U.S. Air Force C-47 pilot reported a luminous object approaching at high speed. The incident occurred 85 miles northwest of Jacksonville, Florida, on the early morning of March 23. The pilot, 1st Lt. J. K. Hahn, saw a blue-white flame between 50 and 75 feet long coming from the 11 o'clock direction. Thinking it might be the exhaust of a jet aircraft, he pulled his plane up sharply to avoid a collision. Looking back afterward, he noticed the object had completely vanished. Neither the co-pilot nor the engineer aboard the aircraft had noticed anything.
The passenger, T/Sgt. L. E. Young, also observed the flame from the cargo bay but could not identify its source. Like the pilot, he confirmed the object had disappeared after the evasive maneuver. This case, though brief, was documented by military intelligence and is part of the records of unidentified sightings from that era. The description of the flame and its sudden disappearance raise questions about the nature of the object observed.
