🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1950, multiple witnesses in New Orleans, Louisiana, reported sightings of an unidentified flying object. An elderly couple described a 24-inch diameter object shaped like an egg with a fiery purple color. It moved rapidly from west to east across the sky, leaving a golden and red trail resembling that of a toy rocket. Other witnesses, including a woman who compared it to a white fireball, also saw it pass quickly. Despite varying descriptions, all agreed it vanished suddenly, like turning off a light. The weather was clear, which adds credibility to the accounts.
The classified military report includes witness sketches and reliability assessments. Although details like size and exact color differ, the general description of a fast, luminous, silent object is consistent among different observers. The lack of a conventional explanation and the coincidence of multiple sightings on the same night make this case intriguing. The document, declassified decades later, remains a valuable record of early official efforts to investigate UFOs.
