🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In 1950, during missile tests at Holloman Air Base, Land-Air personnel observed unidentified aerial objects. They used Askania theodolites, scientific equipment for tracking guided missiles. On two separate dates, April 27 and May 24, they photographed up to eight objects at once. The observers were professionals, increasing the reliability of the records. The Data Reduction Unit analyzed the images, but precise triangulation was not achieved.
The images showed dark, blurry objects moving at high speed. They were estimated to be at around 150,000 feet altitude and 30 feet in diameter. Although the data was inconclusive, the photographic records are valuable for understanding how these phenomena were approached at the time. The declassified documents show the rigor with which the information was handled, even when no definitive conclusions were reached.
