🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1950, a civilian couple in Wilmette, Illinois, observed an elliptical-shaped object with a pink fluorescent hue flying at tremendous speed over Lake Michigan. The object was seen for three to four seconds and was estimated to have traveled 50 to 60 miles in that time. It changed course and headed out over the lake, leaving the witnesses puzzled. The military recorded the incident as an unidentified aircraft, noting its unusual speed and trajectory. The report was submitted by an army officer who interviewed the couple, who provided a detailed and coherent account.
The object did not resemble a shooting star or a conventional aircraft, making it a subject of interest for military analysts. Despite no conventional explanation being found, the report was considered credible. This case is part of a broader set of 1950s UFO sightings that highlight the growing curiosity and concern about unidentified aerial phenomena.
