🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1950, near Japan, two pilots reported the sighting of an unidentified object. The object was detected by radar and the pilots were vectored to the area. There, they observed an object resembling a kite with dimensions of 36 by 24 inches. Despite several attempts at identification, no physical evidence of the object was found. The pilots noted that the object appeared stationary and without visible support.
The evaluation of the report concluded that although the object could have been a dropsonde (a weather device), discrepancies in timing and other elements prevented a definitive identification. The report was filed for information purposes, without reaching a conclusive determination. This case is an example of how UFO reports were analyzed during the Cold War, with both technical and speculative approaches.
