🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1950, a newspaper editor in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, received a call about an unusual aerial phenomenon. Between 20 and 30 people reported seeing a flaming red cross slowly moving across the sky at about 5,000 feet. The object remained visible for 30 minutes before disappearing into a thundercloud. The primary informant was deemed "usually reliable," though the overall truth of the account could not be confirmed.
The report was prepared by the CIC and sent to the Third Army Command. Although the object was not identified, the case was labeled as "Unconventional Aircraft" and evaluated with some uncertainty. The document was downgraded over time and declassified after 12 years, making it an intriguing account from the early days of UFO reports.
