🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1950, an ATIC report documented an aerial observation in the region of 28° 45'N 89° 45'E, India. A pilot described an object with a blue trail that spiraled down from 50,000 feet until its light faded at 20,000 feet. The observation lasted between 15 and 30 minutes, suggesting a detailed and prolonged sighting. Although classified as an astronomical phenomenon (possibly a meteorite), the detailed description and duration of the event raised some curiosity.
A second report, this time from Mobile, Alabama, cited by a newspaper and attributed to an airline pilot, mentioned a flash seen by a meteorologist. The latter attributed it to a large meteorite. Despite the geographic differences, both cases were recorded under the same project number, indicating a possible connection or uniform classification by military authorities at the time. These records reflect the confusion and need for analysis in the identification of unidentified objects in the 1950s.
