In July 1950, an officer from the U.S. Third Army shared with Washington a newspaper article about UFO sightings in Raleigh, North Carolina. The report mentioned testimonies of people who saw unidentified flying objects, described as "flying saucers," moving in fast formations. One witness, a man in his yard, couldn't estimate their altitude or speed, but noted they made no noise and left no trail. The document, though brief, reflected the growing interest in these phenomena at the time.
A similar case was reported in Los Angeles, where an aerial photographer described a bright circular object moving at high speed, accelerating from 100 to 600 miles per hour. The witness claimed the object left no exhaust and made no sound, and his account was confirmed by a friend. These reports, though inconclusive, were part of a wave of sightings generating public curiosity and military debate.
