🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1950, an officer in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, reported observing an aerial object he could not identify. In his letter, he described a phenomenon that drew attention due to its unusual behavior. The official response explained that the object was a white balloon used as a target for meteorological measurements. These balloons, carried by the wind, are common tools for determining wind direction and speed. Although the officer did not immediately recognize it, the object was not a supernatural or extraterrestrial craft, but a standard airborne tool. The official explanation closed the investigation without further action.
