🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1950, an object was detected on radar at Ernest Harmon Air Force Base in Newfoundland. The radar picked up a blip moving at 40-60 mph at an estimated 4-6 thousand feet, maintaining a course of 120 degrees until it reached the 5-mile ring, where it paused for 30 seconds. The object did not match any aircraft in the area and was evaluated as possible atmospheric phenomena. A second report a few days later described a visual sighting of a dark object resembling a large balloon, which ascended and descended repeatedly before disappearing. Both cases were investigated without conclusive results.
