Summary

In September 1950, a geologist in New Mexico described an unusual experience while driving toward an oil well. During a heavy rainstorm, he observed a luminous orange-red object, wider in the center than at the edges. The object first appeared vertically, then slowly approached before finally moving westward. Initially, the witness thought it might be the sun emerging from the storm, but soon realized it was something different. The object moved smoothly without spinning or sudden rotations, and disappeared after a few seconds. Despite others not seeing it, the witness insisted on the reality of his observations.

The report details three separate sightings of the object, each with similar but varying positions and distances. On one occasion, the object appeared as a round ball, larger than any plane the witness had ever seen. Atmospheric phenomena were also noted, such as clouds that did not appear to produce rain, and a gray mass resembling hills. The report, while containing transcription errors, provides a coherent and detailed account of an unidentified aerial phenomenon that was officially reported and archived by military authorities.
