🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
On the evening of September 20, 1950, around 2:45 AM, multiple observers in Colorado, including USAF pilots and aircraft observers, reported an unidentified flying object. It was described as a bright white light that turned orange-red, resembling a landing light emitting bright sparks. The object was moving slightly faster than an F-86 (about 700 mph) and was observed at an altitude of approximately 8000 feet. Witnesses noted that it changed speed and left no visible trail or sound. Captain Robert G. Holliday reported that the object had a magnetic heading of 154° and did not appear to be a conventional aircraft or jet.
More than a dozen people, including commercial pilots and military officers, reported seeing between 2 and 20 similar luminous objects. Some witnesses described fireballs moving in a straight line southward, while others observed changes in direction and speed. Despite the numerous reports, the phenomenon could not be conclusively identified. Meteor showers were considered, but the described characteristics did not match typical meteor activity. The report concluded that the object was not conventional and did not fit known parameters for aircraft or rockets.
