🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1950, a civilian pilot and several engineers in Cuba sighted a circular object with an aluminum-like appearance and a blue flame. The UFO was slightly larger than a DC-3 and moved at a "terrific" speed, exceeding 5500 feet in altitude. The sighting lasted only three seconds, making precise identification difficult. The report includes sketches and photographs, although these are not preserved in the current document. The description suggests an unconventional aerial object, with maneuvers that did not match the characteristics of known meteors or aircraft of the time.
The report, though incomplete and with transcription errors, is part of the records from the ATIC (Air Technical Intelligence Committee), which studied UFO sightings. The exact location is in Cuban coordinates, and the testimony was considered serious enough to be documented. Despite the brevity of the sighting, the testimony from aviation and engineering professionals adds credibility to the report. This document is an example of how observers at the time tried to catalog unexplained aerial phenomena.
