🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In 1950, a commercial airline pilot reported an unidentified flying object near Bakersfield, California. The sighting occurred while the DC-3 was on a routine flight, and the pilot described a bright blue-white object moving erratically. The object performed maneuvers impossible for conventional aircraft, including a sharp 30-degree turn and a rapid departure. The experienced crew considered the sighting significant enough to file an official report.
The object's intense light prevented precise identification of its shape or size, though it was estimated to be about the size of a large star. It maintained a speed exceeding 200 mph, far surpassing any aircraft of the time. Despite applying maximum power, the DC-3 could not close the distance. The report was evaluated by the Air Force, ruling out conventional explanations such as stars, meteors, or balloons.
