Summary

In December 1950, a naval base in Lakehurst, New Jersey, recorded a sighting of an unidentified object. Two observers, from the control tower, saw a white light blinking, with movement similar to commercial aircraft. The object, described as circular or oval, made a very tight turn and sped away southeast at around 5000 feet. The witnesses ruled out a jet aircraft due to the maneuver being impossible for a conventional plane.

The observation lasted less than 45 seconds and was made using binoculars. Weather conditions were ideal: clear skies and visibility over 15 miles. Although there were no other witnesses, the observers were considered reliable and experienced. This report was sent to military authorities and the Air Force, as part of efforts to investigate unexplained aerial phenomena at the time.
