🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In February 1951, radar on the island of Sajalín detected multiple unidentified objects. Data showed speeds between 120 and 500 mph, causing confusion. Initially considered as possibly Soviet balloons or aircraft, no clear conclusion was reached. Nighttime activity increased suddenly, suggesting possible training or attempts to hide operations. The lack of visual images or clear evidence made definitive evaluation difficult.
The records included 33 radar tracks, with varied speeds and unusual directions. Although the ADC evaluated them as possibly Soviet, other explanations like astronomical phenomena were not ruled out. The Project 10073 operation logged these sightings, but no conclusive determination was made. The report reflected the uncertainty of the time regarding unidentified aerial phenomena.
