Summary

In May 1951, several airmen at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, observed a formation of ten to fifteen round objects moving silently. These objects emitted a soft fluorescent glow and traveled in a southeast to northwest direction, maintaining independent movement but with a cohesive pattern. The observation lasted about 30 seconds, and although no sounds were recorded and the altitude was unknown, observers agreed the objects did not appear to be balloons, aircraft, or astronomical phenomena.

The official report concluded that it was a flock of birds, but the description of the objects and their behavior did not match typical bird formations. The report, originally classified and declassified decades later, is part of a series of sightings that sparked debates about the nature of unidentified aerial phenomena. Although other explanations were dismissed, the lack of conclusive evidence left many questions unanswered.
