Summary

In May 1951, in Spokane, Washington, a UFO case was recorded and initially considered as a balloon. A flat object, light tan in color and without noise or visible exhaust was observed by several witnesses. It moved slowly over the field, at an estimated height of 2500 to 3000 feet, with a rolling motion. After flying over the area, the object hovered, then rapidly ascended at a 60-degree angle and disappeared in about 20 seconds. Observers included two officer pilots and two civilians, adding credibility to the sighting.

Weather conditions indicated winds from the northwest above 6000 feet, matching the object's movement. Although a meteorological formation was ruled out, a balloon was suggested. Later, a passenger in a T-6 aircraft 40 miles south of Spokane saw a circular and shiny object, reinforcing the balloon hypothesis. However, the object's description and behavior didn't fully align with conventional objects, leaving other possibilities open.
