🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1951, a witness in Mikkeli, Finland, observed a disc-shaped object approximately 25 meters in diameter and aluminum-colored. The report, under Project 10073, describes a sighting at 20:05 local time, when daylight was still present. The object was moving in a straight line from northwest to southeast at around 10,000 feet altitude, at an estimated speed of 800 mph. The witness, a graduate engineer, noted that no noise was heard, leading him to conclude it was neither a conventional nor jet engine. Although no photos were taken, the report suggests the object could have been an aircraft, though the testimony implies otherwise.
The report was submitted by Lieutenant Colonel Howard T. Van De Car, who highlighted the credibility of the witness. Despite the sighting not being officially recorded, the cloudy conditions and the nature of the object's movement explain its absence from records. The document remained classified for decades, revealing a hidden story of a possible unidentified aerial phenomenon.
