In August 1951, several witnesses in Birmingham, Alabama, reported an unusual aerial phenomenon. Circular objects, between 18 and 27 feet in diameter, were seen leaving orange-red trails. Their speed was estimated at around 800 mph, and they moved from northeast to southwest. The local air base was alerted and used radar to locate them, but without success. A cargo pilot also reported a bright streak of light 35 miles southwest of Birmingham. Despite efforts, no conclusive physical evidence was found.

The official investigation concluded the objects were likely meteors, as they coincided with a recorded meteor shower in the area. However, witnesses insisted they were not shooting stars.
