Summary

In August 1951, two women reported seeing an object shaped like a pear, silver or aluminum in color, moving silently at low altitude over Matador, Texas. The object, estimated to be 40 feet long and 16 feet in diameter, showed no signs of exhaust, noise, or visible propulsion. According to the witnesses, the object rapidly ascended to the east in a circular pattern and disappeared within seconds. Although a balloon or astronomical phenomenon was considered, the case was ultimately labeled "unidentified." The official investigation concluded without a definitive explanation, and the case was closed.

The incident occurred during a period of intense sightings in the region, including reports in Lubbock, Texas, where a student photographed formations of unidentified objects. Despite official efforts, the photographic evidence did not provide a clear resolution, and the case remains one of the many unsolved mysteries in UFO history.
