Summary

In September 1951, U.S. Air Force radar stations detected multiple fast-moving objects over Michigan and Wisconsin. The targets appeared and disappeared on radar screens, with elongated shapes and speeds reaching up to 6000 mph. Despite two F-86 fighters being scrambled, nothing was identified. The most plausible explanation pointed to atmospheric effects caused by dense fog with high humidity, known as "ducting," which could have distorted radar readings.

The phenomenon lasted for three hours, with targets appearing in multiple locations and directions. Adjacent radar stations also reported similar occurrences, suggesting it wasn't a local error. Although no physical evidence or visual sightings were recorded, investigators concluded the phenomenon was likely atmospheric. This case reflects how even in the 1950s, UFO reports were taken seriously and analyzed with scientific rigor.
