🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In December 1951, a civilian guard at Oak Ridge, Tennessee, spotted a grayish square object appearing and disappearing among clouds. The object made no sound, smoke, or trail and flew at low altitude, even circling near the ground. Despite sending aircraft to intercept it, the object vanished. The observation lasted 30 to 40 seconds, and the witness, with 20/70 vision, claimed no eye issues. The local air base wasn't notified in time, complicating the response.
A classified U.S. Air Force report details this sighting, including weather data and the witness's precise location. The object, described as smooth and unmarked, moved at a constant speed similar to conventional aircraft but without noise. The guard, employed by Union Carbon and Carbide for seven years, was considered reliable. Despite multiple attempts at identification, the object remained unexplained.
