Summary

In 1951, a police officer in Kansas City observed a mysterious object in the sky. While watching a B-36 flying southwest at about 10,000 feet, he noticed another object moving northwest at a slightly higher altitude. The object remained visible for approximately one minute, was transparent, and gave off a metallic sheen. Weather conditions indicated strong winds from the south to the north, complicating identification. Although possibilities like balloons, weather balloons, or even aircraft were considered, no conclusive explanation emerged.

The official report lists several possibilities, such as balloons or astronomical observations, but there is no clear evidence. The witness, a civilian, contacted the weather bureau to rule out balloons, but there were no records of launches. The officer described the object as perfectly round with an inner core resembling a fuselage. Although no noise was heard, the testimony suggests the object was unconventional. The case was filed as insufficient for a definitive conclusion, but it remains a classic example of UFO reports from that era.
