Summary

In January 1952, a civilian woman in Palmer, Alaska, reported an unusual aerial phenomenon. A bright blue object appeared near the setting sun and remained stationary for approximately 10 to 15 minutes before slowly tilting into a horizontal position and moving eastward. The observation lasted 30 minutes, and the object was described as resembling a fluorescent light tube, two feet long, uniformly bright, and distinct against the sun. Despite the duration of the sighting, no identification efforts were made and no physical evidence was found.

The official investigation concluded the object might be related to the setting sun, possibly a reflection or astronomical phenomenon. However, multiple witnesses and the detailed description suggest it was not a common atmospheric event.
