🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1952, several observers in Artesia, New Mexico, reported the presence of unidentified aerial objects near a high-altitude balloon. Two scientists from the General Mills Aeronautical Research Laboratory, along with other civilians, observed two objects that first appeared as one stationary object and then as two that circled the balloon before disappearing rapidly. The objects were dull white, similar in size to the balloon, and moved at incredible speeds. Although the report reached ATIC late, the observers were considered reliable.
The official investigation was complicated by a date error: the objects were seen in 1951, not 1952. This led to the case being closed without further action. Despite the lack of conclusions, the witnesses' testimony and detailed description of the objects suggest an unusual event that cannot be easily explained by conventional phenomena.
