🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1952, a B-29 crew observed an unusual aerial phenomenon over Cedar Keys, Florida. The object was described as a large blue-green ball with a blue tail moving at high speed toward the ground. Although the aircraft was at 25,000 feet, the object rapidly descended from about 30 degrees above the horizon until it exploded near 5 degrees, disappearing instantly. The sighting lasted only three seconds, with no sound or physical evidence. The experienced and conscientious crew offered no opinions on the object's identity, but insisted it was not an astronomical or meteorological phenomenon.
The Air Force briefly investigated the incident but reached no conclusions. The report noted that the phenomenon fit into the category of "green fireballs," unidentified objects previously observed. Despite efforts by the Cambridge Research Laboratory, no clear explanation emerged. The case was filed without resolution but kept under observation in case further clues surfaced. This type of sighting remains a mystery in UFO history.
