Green UFO over Philadelphia 1952

Summary

In January 1952, a USAF officer reported an unusual aerial phenomenon over Philadelphia. It was a green fireball with an orange and red tail, observed for a few seconds. The object traveled in a flat arc toward the southwest, without making any noise. A pilot with Pacific experience confirmed it didn't resemble any known meteorite. Although several explanations were considered, such as balloons or meteors, no definitive conclusion was reached.

The incident was investigated by the USAF and experts were contacted. Dr. Charles Olivier, director of observations at the University of Pennsylvania, confirmed it was a bright meteorite. However, other testimonies and lack of concrete information kept the mystery alive. The case was marked as "inconclusive" and no further action was taken.
