Summary

In February 1952, two U.S. Air Force officers, Major Richard Gedeon and Captain George Ams, reported the sighting of an unidentified flying object (UFO) near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. While flying a T-11 aircraft, the pilots observed a bright object emitting a yellow to orange light with a pulsating motion. The object was moving at an estimated altitude of over 12,000 feet and at a speed similar to that of a jet aircraft. Initially, they thought it might be an aircraft on fire, but soon dismissed this possibility due to the object's unusual behavior.

The report details that the object was observed for approximately one minute and did not exhibit characteristics of a conventional aircraft or meteorite. The pilots, both experienced and considered reliable observers, could not identify the object based on their experience. The official Air Force report concluded that there was no clear explanation for the phenomenon and considered the object neither a meteorite nor a known experimental aircraft. This case was included in the Blue Book Project, the official Air Force program for investigating UFO reports.
