🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In February 1952, a radar in Granite City, Illinois, detected an unidentified object traveling at an astonishing speed of 1090 miles per hour. The report details how the radar lost contact with the object when it suddenly changed direction and descended. Although immediate checks of the equipment were performed, no malfunctions were found, suggesting the phenomenon was not a technical error. The nature of the object remains a mystery, but its unusual behavior generated interest among researchers at the time.
A follow-up report in 1953 attempted to analyze the incident, but concluded that the data was insufficient for a definitive evaluation. The possibility of atmospheric refraction caused by a temperature inversion and a decrease in humidity was mentioned, conditions that can make targets appear higher or move unexpectedly. Despite these theories, the object was not identified and the case remains unsolved, adding another chapter to the history of UFO sightings.
