Summary

In March 1952, an unidentified object was detected by radar at an astonishing speed of 3000 knots, approximately 5550 km/h, 60 miles west of Point Conception, California. The incident occurred during a routine mission of a B-29, where both the navigator and radar operator confirmed the sighting. Both were experienced officers with combat experience, adding credibility to the report. The object appeared on the radar screen for 20-30 seconds and was moving northwest at an altitude below 25,000 feet.

Despite ideal weather conditions (CAVU), no physical evidence of the phenomenon was found. Researchers considered the possibility that it was a balloon, an aircraft, or even electronic activity caused by machine gun firing during training. However, the object's extreme speed and inability to identify its shape led to the conclusion that it was an unconventional phenomenon. This case is one of many that fueled UFO theories during the Cold War.
