🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1952, a retired U.S. military pilot reported seeing an elliptical or cigar-shaped object that was brightly illuminated without any visible trail. The sighting occurred over Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at an estimated altitude of between 15,000 and 20,000 feet. The object was moving at a speed the observer considered faster than any jet aircraft he had seen before. The witness, who had extensive knowledge of jet aircraft, described the event with astonishment, emphasizing the speed and the sudden disappearance of the object from the sky.
The report included details such as a southerly direction, an elevation of about 35 degrees above the horizon, and an estimated distance of between 15 and 20 miles. Despite the call to Homestead Air Base personnel, there was no confirmation of any aerial activity that could explain the sighting. The report concluded with several possibilities, from a balloon to an astronomical phenomenon, but without conclusive physical evidence.
