Summary

In April 1952, an army officer at Fort Eustis, Virginia, observed a luminous object with an elliptical or spherical shape and a greenish-blue tail. The object moved in a straight line from the northeast to the northwest and was visible for approximately two seconds. Although initially considered a balloon, an aircraft, or even a large insect, the detailed account of the witness and the absence of known aerial activity in the area raised doubts. The official report concluded there was insufficient data for a definitive evaluation, but the officer's testimony was deemed very reliable.

The incident was investigated by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, which found no conventional explanations. Despite the officers' considerations of possible natural or artificial phenomena, the object did not exhibit characteristics of any known entity. The final report did not rule out the possibility of a UFO, but also did not confirm its existence, leaving it in a state of uncertainty. This case is another example of the many unresolved UFO sightings during the 1950s.
