🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1952, two U.S. pilots in Darmstadt, Germany, reported a bright object approaching at high speed. While conducting training in a C-57, they observed a brilliant white light seemingly on a collision course with their aircraft. The pilot took evasive action and contacted the control tower, but no other aircraft were found in the area. The light remained visible for two minutes, without sound, and then quickly moved northwest.
The observers could not identify the object's shape, though they described it as a two-foot diameter white circle of light. The pilot noted it resembled jet engine exhaust. Although other possibilities like balloons or conventional aircraft were considered, no clear explanation emerged. The report was classified and only declassified decades later, adding more mystery to this Cold War case.
