Summary

In May 1952, an Air Force technician observed two shiny, metallic objects approaching a B-36 bomber at Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona. The objects, which appeared round and without protruding surfaces, overtook the aircraft at three to four times its speed. They then positioned themselves alongside the bomber, one on each side, and remained for about 20 seconds. One object executed a sharp 70-80 degree turn, hovered briefly, shimmered, and disappeared by shrinking in size. The other vanished without a trace. The report concluded it was not a balloon or conventional aircraft, but no definitive identification was made.

The B-36 pilot denied any interference with flight, navigation, or radio equipment. The observer estimated the objects to be about the size of the bomber's horizontal stabilizer, roughly 20-25 feet in diameter. No unusual noise or exhaust trails were reported. Although multiple witnesses, including the crew, confirmed the sighting, the lack of precise altitude data for the B-36 left many questions unanswered. The case was included in Project Blue Book files but remains unresolved.
