🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1952, a civilian in Phoenix, Arizona, observed an object in the sky emitting an iridescent blue-green light. The object was moving northeast at an approximate altitude of 10,000 feet and ascending at an angle of about 10 degrees. The sighting lasted only two seconds, and the observer could not determine the object's shape or size. Although the object was estimated to be traveling at over 1,000 miles per hour, no sound was associated with it. Military authorities concluded there was insufficient data to identify the object as a balloon, aircraft, or astronomical phenomenon.
The reports from the time reflect the uncertainty surrounding the sighting. No interception or photographic evidence was obtained. The report was classified and later downgraded at three-year intervals, and officially declassified after twelve years. Despite the lack of concrete data, the case was included in the records of unidentified aerial phenomena from that period, as part of the government's efforts to monitor and analyze UFO reports.
