🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1952, a witness in Deephaven, Minnesota, reported a luminous object with a tail moving straight across the sky. The observer, an experienced former pilot, described it as resembling a meteor, but its horizontal path was unusual. The object was intensely bright, lacked aircraft lights, and made no sound. It was seen for 10 seconds, covering about 75% of the sky. Though balloon or aircraft explanations were considered, the evaluation leaned toward a meteor. Yet the exact nature of the phenomenon remains unresolved.
The object's description and behavior raised questions about its identity. Despite clear visibility and the witness's expertise, no other witnesses or photographic evidence were recorded. The official assessment labeled it as likely a meteor, but the report leaves room for other possibilities. This case, like many from the era, reflects the confusion and mystery surrounding unidentified aerial phenomena in the 1950s.
