🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1952, a deputy sheriff in San Diego County reported a bright white object hovering over Niland, California. The object hovered briefly before moving, and the observer suggested it might be a balloon. However, the nearest balloon launch site was in El Centro, 30 miles southwest. Due to a lack of clear evidence and no confirmation of the object's origin, the case remains intriguing. The official report classified it as "possibly an aircraft," but other explanations could not be ruled out.
The sighting occurred at 04:42 local time and was recorded under Project 10073. There were no photographs or radar data, only a visual description. Despite considering various possibilities, from balloons to astronomical phenomena, the case remains unresolved. This type of report, with limited data and uncertain conclusions, is common in files from that era, reflecting the confusion and mystery surrounding UFO sightings in the 1950s.
