🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1952, during the Korean War, U.S. pilots reported several unidentified flying objects (UFOs) in North Korea. These reports, classified under Project 10073, include detailed descriptions and observations. A pilot from the 51st Fighter-Interceptor Group described an oval, silvery object performing normal maneuvers, while another from the 18th Fighter-Bomber Group observed a spherical object rapidly ascending. The reports highlight the difficulty in identifying the objects as balloons, aircraft, or astronomical phenomena, with conclusions ranging from "possibly balloon" to "insufficient data for evaluation".
Additionally, a report from May 26, 1952, describes a case where radar detected an object at 7000 yards, which suddenly accelerated and escaped the F-94 interceptor's range. Calculations suggest a speed exceeding 6000 mph, raising questions about the technological capabilities of the time. Despite investigations, no clear explanation was found, and the reports concluded with the possibility of radar malfunctions or unconventional phenomena.
