1952 UFO Sighting in Zuni New Mexico

Summary

In May 1952, a TWA pilot sighted two torpedo-shaped, reddish objects during a flight near Zuni, New Mexico. The sighting occurred at 01:27 local time and lasted about 15 seconds. The objects appeared directly in front of the aircraft, at about 45 degrees above the horizon, and moved in a 60-degree arc toward the south while slowly descending. Although balloon or astronomical explanations were considered, the nature of the objects remained unidentified. The pilot, whose reliability was rated as excellent, could not determine their speed or exact distance.

The official report lacked photographs or radar data, limiting further analysis. The description of the objects as "without a central section" added to the mystery. Despite ruling out conventional explanations like aircraft or balloons, the report did not reach definitive conclusions.
