Summary

An unidentified white object with a short exhaust trail resembling a comet's tail was observed over Riverside, California, in July 1952. Two civilian women, a March AFB historian and a local librarian, reported seeing the object flying straight and level while emitting a jet-like noise. The object remained visible for one to three seconds before disappearing into scattered clouds. Despite clear weather conditions and no known aerial activity at the time, no physical evidence or photographs were recovered.

The object, described as 100 to 129 feet in diameter, appeared large and unusual. The witnesses were stargazing when the object passed directly overhead, from the northwest to the southeast, at an estimated altitude of 10,000 feet.
