🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1952, a civilian in Portland, Oregon, observed an object in the sky traveling northeast. The sighting was recorded as part of Project 10073, an investigation into unidentified aerial phenomena. Although the witness did not specify the exact duration of the observation, the report concluded the object was a balloon. No photographs or physical evidence were collected, limiting further analysis. The report was processed by Project Blue Book, the official U.S. Air Force program for investigating UFO sightings.
The object was described as rounded, silvery or metallic in color, with no aerodynamic features or exhaust trail. The witness saw it with the naked eye from the old Kaiser shipyards on Swan Island. Weather conditions were clear, with 10-mile visibility and light winds. Despite the detailed description, the object could not be conclusively identified beyond the balloon hypothesis. This case reflects the challenges of UFO investigations in the 1950s, where the lack of physical evidence and reliance on eyewitness accounts often limited conclusions.
