Summary

In July 1952, a witness near the Mississippi River observed a mysterious object rapidly ascending above the horizon. The event was notable enough to prompt an official report and drew attention from local observers. The object rose approximately 20 degrees in just two seconds, shortly after a twin-engine aircraft approached from the east with a landing light on. Although a possible connection between the two was considered, no definitive conclusion was reached. The weather was clear with visibility exceeding 15 miles, adding credibility to the sighting. A member of a local astronomy club was also present at the time, further validating the report.

The case was documented by multiple military and civilian offices, including the Air Force Command and the Office of National Security. The sighting occurred near Moline, Illinois, and was shared with various air and defense units. Despite efforts to identify the object, no conventional explanation was found. The report ends without resolving the mystery, leaving open the possibility of an unconventional or unknown phenomenon.
